Mas Riudoms

Situated in the natural surroundings of the Tarragona town of Riudoms is Mas Riudoms. After finding the property practically in ruins, the owners, a young family, decided to turn these ruins into their new home. To create a refuge in which to be and grow in contact with nature and the environment. A quiet oasis to slow down the revolutions of everyday life. The concept of creating a home with a Mediterranean essence, cosy and warm, has been the key to the design of this Catalan farmhouse.

The intervention is respectful of the original architecture, always enhancing the character of the farmhouse. A harmonious balance is established between the contemporary design and the pre-existing architecture. We eliminated ornaments and superfluous elements to achieve order and timelessness.

The surroundings and the openings in the main façade have been key to the interior layout of the house. The farmhouse, which is divided into three floors, has a completely open-plan ground floor. The kitchen and living room are located on this level, in direct contact with the exterior. The spacious kitchen has a large cooking island and a large table to enjoy with the guests. The spacious and open layout allows natural light to flood every corner of the house.

The upper floors house the sleeping area and the most private parts of the house. The spacious master suite with an open bathroom and dressing room are the stars of this area. Inside this space is the elegant Prime bathtub by Inbani. A floor-to-ceiling wooden lattice is the dividing element that screens and filters the light and vision between the bed and the washbasin area, helping to create privacy without closing off the space. The top floor houses two bedrooms, a bathroom, an office and a cinema room.

With the premise of creating a home with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, but without excesses, a palette of neutral tones and natural materials such as oak wood is used. A timeless language capable of coexisting with the weight of time is created.
